Tezpur, May 17 : In order to provide an opportunity to the alumni of the educational institutions they have studied, to express their responsibility towards the development of the infrastructure, through the recently announced “Vidyanjali” scheme of Government of Assam, a section of the people of the state have made various donations to the educational institutions. In line with the above mentioned scheme, the process of building an ‘Alumni gallery class room’ has started at a cost of Rs 50 lakh.
It is to be noted that a press conference was held in the college premises on May 17 with the aim of informing the alumni in different parts of the country, regarding the construction of this gallery classroom which has been taken up with the money of the alumni of the college. As of now, 40 percent of the work has already been completed. In this press conference organized by the Darrang College Alumni Association, President of the organization and Professor of the college Dr. Dharmendra Kumar Sharma, General Secretary, Professor Dr. Manoj Kumar Hazarika, Joint Secretary, Advocate Parama Kakati and Principal, Dr. Palashmoni Saikia addressed the press.
A number of alumni have donated Rs 5,000, adding their name as a Life member, few of them also have donated Rs 1,00,000, which have accelerated the construction. The administrators informed through the press conference that another Rs 30 lakh is required to complete the construction of the modern gallery class room.
