‘No closure of Tezpur University campus’ ~ Administration clarifies after recent Covid outbreak in TU

Tezpur, Sep 29 : In a latest, seven students tested positive for Covid-19. The news made headlines on several media outlets/channels.

While classes continued to happen virtually, several department laboratories were functioning offline along with some classes and hostels which were starting to reopen gradually after an order was passed by the state government to resume classes for final year students of UG and PG.

A section of Media reported about closure of entire Tezpur University campus on which the administration has denied and issued public notice in this regard. The official statement reads, “It has come to the notice of Tezpur University authorities regarding a baseless news circulating in few media outlets that the University has announced closure due to the outbreak of Covid-19 on the campus. The authorities would like to make it clear that no such order has been issued from the administration”.

Out of the seven students who tested positive, six are from home state Assam and 1 reportedly from Bihar. All of them were shifted to a nearest Covid Care Centre.
