NERIWALM Hosts Inspiring Workshop on Women’s Rights and Empowerment to Mark International Women’s Day

The North Eastern Regional Institute of Water and Land Management (NERIWALM) celebrated International Women’s Day with an impactful workshop on “Rights, Equality, and Empowerment of Women,” bringing together students and faculties from nine colleges for an enlightening and empowering experience.

The event commenced with a warm welcome address by the Director of NERIWALM, Dr. Pradip Kumar Bora, whose inspiring speech set the tone for the program’s significance. The workshop was honored by the presence of Dr. Madhurima Goswami, Associate Professor from the Department of Women’s Studies at Tezpur University, as the Chief Guest, and Ms. Prativa Meshram, Assistant Commissioner (IAS), as the Guest of Honour.

Adding further depth and value to the program were two distinguished resource persons. Smt. Krishna Bormudoi, a women entrepreneur from KB Hydroponics Academy, shared insights on the role of women in agriculture and methods to strengthen their contributions in the sector. Meanwhile, Mr. Stephen Ekka, Director of PAJHRA, addressed critical issues related to women’s atrocities, human trafficking, and domestic violence, providing participants with valuable knowledge to combat these challenges.

The workshop witnessed an impressive turnout, with more than 230 participants actively engaging in the discussions, making the event a resounding success. The enthusiastic involvement and dynamic exchanges during the workshop underscored its importance as a meaningful celebration of women’s rights and empowerment.
