In a remarkable event on Wednesday, 19 March, a baby boy was safely delivered aboard the 15614 Down Lachit Express as the train neared Rangapara Junction. This unexpected delivery transformed an ordinary train journey into a moment of joy and relief for everyone involved.

Halima Khatun, the expectant mother, went into labor while traveling on the train. Upon being alerted to this emergency, the railway administration acted promptly, swiftly arranging for the necessary medical team to assist her.
Dr. Prithiv Siddharth, the Divisional Medical Officer (DMO) at Rangapara North, led the emergency response team that attended to the mother and her newborn. The medical team’s prompt action and professional care ensured that both mother and child remained safe throughout the delivery process.
Following the delivery, both the mother and her newborn son were reported to be in good health. As a precautionary measure, they were transferred to Civil Hospital Rangapara for further observation and care. The incident has been praised as an example of the railway’s emergency response capabilities and the dedication of its medical staff.
