A comprehensive health checkup camp for 38 elephants was successfully organized at Orang National Park and Tiger Reserve in collaboration with the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). The pre-monsoon health camp aimed to assess the well-being of the elephants and ensure their continued health and safety during the monsoon season.
A specialized team of three veterinary doctors, including Padmashree Dr. Kushal Kumar Sarma, Head of Department, C.V.Sc, Khanapara; Dr. Amarjyoti Boro, Veterinary Officer, Dhekiajuli; and Dr. Khanin Changmai from WWF, conducted thorough examinations of the elephants. Their expertise ensured that each elephant received the necessary medical attention, including deworming, vaccination, and overall health evaluation.

Speaking about the initiative, Pradipta Baruah, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), emphasized the importance of routine health checkups for departmental elephants. He stated that these periodic evaluations play a crucial role in maintaining the well-being of the elephants by ensuring timely medical interventions and preventive care.
Regular health check-ups and conservation measures are essential for ensuring that elephants and other wildlife thrive in their natural habitats, further strengthening wildlife preservation efforts in the region.
