Trainees from the Govt. College of Teacher Education (CTE), Tezpur paid tribute to Assam’s beloved heartthrob, Zubeen Garg, through a unique blend of cultural performances and environmental action at 12 Mile, Nameri.
The event, organised as part of an educational exposure visit, saw D.El.Ed trainees come together under the guidance of Prof. Surajit Mahanta to honour the heartthrob whilst promoting environmental consciousness.

The occasion began with a soulful poem recital by Prof. Ajoy Kandulna, setting a reflective tone for the day. This was followed by melodious songs by Prof. Surajit Mahanta and Khemraj Basnet, whose voices filled the air with deep respect for Zubeen Garg’s legacy. Graceful dance performances by Emon Goswami, Dolly Basumatary, Radhika Lama, and other trainees further enriched the atmosphere, each act reflecting heartfelt reverence for the heartthrob of Assam.
Beyond the performances, the event embraced an environmentally conscious spirit. Nahor saplings were distributed and planted by participants, symbolising growth, love, and hope for a greener future. This initiative reinforced the message that cultural celebration and responsibility to nature can go hand in hand. The day’s activities also included various sports events held amidst Nameri’s natural surroundings, allowing trainees to connect with the region’s biodiversity whilst celebrating one of Assam’s most cherished cultural figures.
The event at Nameri not only honoured Zubeen Garg’s immense contributions to culture but also fostered a strong sense of community and care for the environment through its thoughtful and vibrant programme.
