Tezpur, May 5 : In light of the unexpected storm of Covid-19 outbreak, the country has been facing tough times battling the Pandemic. Assam has reportedly seen spike in the cases, after which strict restrictions have been imposed with Night Curfew coming into force from 6 PM.
In a record high, Sonitpur reported 159 fresh Covid-19 infections along with 3 deaths on Wednesday (5th May). On Tuesday (4th May), the District reported 108 new cases and 1 death. A total of 44 patients have been discharged too on Wednesday. The active cases currently stand at 606 in Sonitpur District.
Meanwhile, in Assam, 4826 new cases were recorded against 52,075 tests done, with positivity rate standing at 9.27 %. 55 new deaths reported in the state, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said.
In view of the rising cases in Sonitpur, a COVID Management meeting was held under the Chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner, Sonitpur with District Administration, Health Department, Police, Social Welfare and other line department on Wednesday.
