Athletes from Tezpur delivered an outstanding performance at the United National Masters Games Championship 2026, claiming multiple medals across armwrestling, powerlifting, and weightlifting.
The prestigious four-day event, held in Nashik, Maharashtra, from 28th to 31st January, provided a national platform for veteran athletes to compete at the highest level. The championship celebrates fitness, determination, and sporting excellence across various age groups and disciplines
Tezpur’s contingent proved formidable across all three strength sports, with athletes claiming top honours in their respective categories.

In armwrestling, Nayan Kumar Bharali secured gold in the 45+ age group, marking an impressive start to the championship.
The powerlifting events showcased exceptional strength from Tezpur’s athletes. Nayan Kumar Bharali added to his medal tally with gold in the 93kg category (45+ age group), whilst Khanjan Borah dominated the 83kg class to claim gold. Dibash Moni Baruah earned silver in the 105kg category, and Raju Moni Das contributed bronze in the 74kg class. Jyotshna Devi shone in the women’s category, securing a well-deserved gold medal.
In weightlifting, the success continued with impressive performances across age groups. Bibodh Deka claimed gold in the 60+ age category at 55kg bodyweight, whilst Raju Moni Das topped the 67kg class in the 45+ age group. Dibash Moni Baruah added silver in the 93kg category, and Jyotshna Devi demonstrated remarkable versatility by claiming her second gold medal of the championship.
The strong showing by Tezpur’s athletes underscores sporting talent across all age categories, proving that dedication and fitness truly know no age limits, a proud moment for the community.
