Tezpur, Nov 7 : In an unfortunate incident a road accident took place on Jia Bharali River bridge at Sonitpur District on Monday.
The collision took place between a dumper and Scooter. While speaking to Media the driver of the Dumper said that, the man travelling on Scooter was on wrong side. The driver immediately applied brakes and stopped his heavy vehicle so that the scooter rider would have got enough time to turn on his left side of the road and pass by. Also, as per the driver, the scooter rider was using his phone.
The scooter rider has been identified as Tilak Hainary (36) of Batbari who is also a Police personnel. He has been rushed to Tezpur Medical College & Hospital for better treatment.
Meanwhile, the public have seized the Dumper which reportedly belongs to RSM Construction Group.
The police have reached the spot to take control of the situation and for further investigations.
It may also be noted that the Jia Bharali Bridge has remained in a dilapidated condition for many years and that it’s high time for the concerned authority to look for its repairing and maintenance works.
