Lush Echoes: Meenakshi Goswami’s Poetry Collection blooms in Assam Bhawan, Kolkata

The historic Assam Bhawan in Kolkata witnessed a celebration of poetry and culture as National Awardee Teacher Meenakshi Goswami launched her third poetry collection, Lush Echoes, on November 9, 2025. The event, organized by the Asam Sahitya Sabha Kolkata Branch, brought together literary figures and cultural enthusiasts in a gathering that celebrated the rich tapestry of Assamese literature.

The book release was led by Shri Jiban Roy, President of the Asam Sahitya Sabha Kolkata Branch, with distinguished guests including Dr. Navamalati Neog Chakraborty, daughter of the legendary Dr. Maheswar Neog, and the President of the Assam Socio-Literary Club, Kolkata.

Meenakshi Goswami, who received the National Teacher Award in 2022 and served as a Principal in Sonitpur, Assam, before her retirement, expressed her gratitude to attendees. “This launch feels like a poetic homecoming,” she said during the ceremony. She acknowledged the efforts of her sisters, Kasturi S and Nilakshi Kalita, who organized the event.

The evening featured poetry recitations from Lush Echoes by several accomplished readers. Dr. Neelakshi Goswami, who accompanied the poet from Assam, performed evocative renditions of selected verses. She was joined by Runa Srivastava, Nandini Mitra, Suhina Biswas Majumdar, and Dr. Navamalati Neog Chakraborty, each bringing their own interpretation to Goswami’s work. The recitations explored themes of nature, introspection, and human connection that characterize the collection.
