In a significant operation against drug trafficking, police in Itakhola, Chatia, have successfully apprehended two young drug suppliers and seized a substantial quantity of heroin. The operation, carried out near the factory of Dikorai Tea Estate in Itakhola. The arrested individuals have been identified as Mirajul Islam, 19, and Rafikul Islam, 18, both residents of Ahubari in Dipakucha, Itakhola. This arrest highlights the concerning involvement of young individuals in the drug trade, raising questions about the social and economic factors driving such activities.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar Hojai led the joint team of Itakhola and Chatia police in this operation. The team’s efforts resulted in the seizure of 34 grams of heroin, cleverly concealed in three soap cases. This method of concealment demonstrates the increasingly sophisticated tactics employed by drug traffickers to evade law enforcement. In addition to the narcotics, the police also confiscated a TVS motorcycle with the registration number AS-12AE-5937.
As of now, both suspects are under intensive interrogation. Law enforcement officials hope that this questioning will yield crucial information about the source of the drugs and potential links to larger trafficking networks.
