The farm laws introduced by the government garnered enough controversy for anyone to not notice. Amid all these mixed reactions, the Supreme Court has come out with a solution to acknowledge the freedom of speech and expression of the country’s citizens.
The Supreme Court has appointed a committee on farm laws and has invited comments, views and suggestions from the public on the three laws by February 20.
The introduced laws are:
1.The Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act
2.The Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act
3.The Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Act.
The appointed committee intends to invite comments, views and suggestions on the aforesaid Acts from the stakeholders so that it can be compiled for submitting to the Hon’ble Supreme Court to protect the interest of Indian farmers.
All the concerned are requested to share their comments, views and suggestions on this matter. The Committee seeks the opinion of Farmer Unions, Farmer Associations, Farmer Producer Organizations and other stakeholders engaged in agriculture related activities, to consider their views on the said Farm Reform Acts.
It is a very good and important opportunity for the citizens to finally raise their concerns and opinions regarding the farmer bills. Comments, views and suggestions may be given on the portal www.farmer.gov.in/sccommittee or by email to: firstname.lastname@example.org by 20th February, 2021.
