Tezpur Medical College & Hospital celebrated its 8th Foundation day on the 30th of January,2021.The festivities started with the hoisting of the college flag by Respected Principal -cum-Chief-Superintendent, Dr. Karuna Hazarika and was followed by Oath Taking ceremony by the faculties, medical employees and students.
The red-letter day for the institution was celebrated by the felicitating the COVID WARRIORS of the college who fought on the frontlines during the pandemic.The Foundation Day celebration was also marked by a plantation drive and a blood donation camp. The rest of the programme,which took place in the beautifully decorated Main Auditorium, started with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the dignitaries followed by a Ganesh Vandana.A small tribute was paid to the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi on his 73rd death anniversary.
The college chorus sang the College Anthem and the Annual Report and the College Magazine “Birikh” was released to commemorate the auspicious occasion.This was followed by speeches by the Principal,Medical Superintendent,Chief Guest Sri Ganesh Kumar Limbu,MLA,Barchalla Constituency, Staff president, General Secretary,TMC Teachers’ Association, President, Junior Doctors’ Association, President,TMC Students’ Union,President TMCH Employees’ Association and the Nursing Superintendent. The audience was left in awe with the cultural events which included mesmerising solo & duet songs, raps, some classical and modern dance performances and ultimately Bihu!! The programme also included the distribution of Academic Prizes to the students who brought laurels to the college by dint of their outstanding performances in the University Examination. There were happy faces all around as those in attendance enjoyed a scumptous lunch to draw the curtains on a very eventful and impactful year in the life of the premier medical institution.
