Dr. Himanta Biswa Sharma has informed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be visiting Assam on January 23. The state assembly elections are only a couple of months away, therefore the PM is mostly likely to launch the campaign for the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party on that day.
Union home minister Amit Shah is also likely to address two rallies at Nalbari and Kokrajhar on January 24. The details of these visits were disclosed during the meeting of the state’s BJP leaders with national party president JP Nadda.
The meeting was attended by CM Sarbananda Sonowal, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sharma and also state BJP President Ranjit Kumar Das.
Nadda, who arrived at Assam on Monday, met the state leadership at the PWD Guest House, Amingaon. Prior, Nadda went to an assembly at Silchar on Monday prior to withdrawing for Guwahati.
