Let’s scare away this pandemic.
While entering covid area with my packsack and shifting to the duty area on first day, I was in with mixed emotions of excitement, nervousness and a little bit of fear. After being familiarized about duty by my previous colleague and after calming down a bit, donned the PPE to have my first encounter with covid positive patient. This ascend(with full of excitement and fear) from 1st floor to 3rd floor was a very much rememberworthy as we or no one is quiet sure about the disease or treatment.
It was like a walk to unknown.
From very first day had to face those patients as we junior doctors were directed to take swab samples, blood samples of them for the required routine investigations.
Day 1 shift ended with a short visit to each admitted patients and collection of swab samples of 16 patients and packing them in proper carrying box. After my first day of duty the fear almost disappeared.
And the whole week went like this , relentlessly following higher authority’s order, going to patients even in the midst of the night and what not. The most challenging task was to pierce the vein with thick 10mL syringe needle, to collect blood for routine investigations, through foggy visibility of PPE and face shield.
Whatever, after a long thrilling week in COVID19 ward all I can say it’s an unforgettable experience.
I consider myself fortunate enough to be a part of this great deed.
And also thanks to my whole team including Senior Doctor, nurses, ward boys and House keeping staffs. They helped me and each other through every work and to maintain the process running smoothly
Finally I would like to say,
We are not the frontline in this battle. We as healthcare workers stand in the back. We’re the last line of defence. The frontline of this epidemic is you, the people in the community. Just abide by the rules proposed by the government, Keep hand washing regularly, Wear mask properly and Maintain social distancing.
