After a long hold and wait, the Assam Government has finally made an official announcement that the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) and Higher Secondary (HS) final exams 2021 has been cancelled in view of the COVID-19 pandemic situation.
The decision was taken on Friday, June 18 in a meeting between the education department and various stakeholders. It has been reported that two committees will be constituted – one for the Board of Secondary Education Assam (SEBA) and one for Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) to decide on a well-defined objective criteria for evaluation.
The Committees are asked to submit the report within a week. And the results are likely to be declared by July 31.
It is worth mentioning that earlier this week, the Assam cabinet came out in support of the students urging the cancellation of the exams and recommended the state government not to conduct the board exams in the current environment for the safety of the students. And hence, the exams have been cancelled.
