Tezpur, July 30 : In a shocking incident, the statue of Nandi God at Tezpur’s Ganesh Ghat Shiva Mandir was reportedly vandalized and desecrated by unidentified miscreants on the wee hours of Thursday.
The matter came into light, when the members of Marwari Yuva Manch and other locals on their usual morning walk spotted that the horns of Nandi God were allegedly cut off. One of the members while addressing this stated that, the Nandi God has been built using White Marbles and that there is no chance of monkeys damaging it. “This is a clear cut picture of some miscreants destroying with sharp weapon as marbles are not easily breakable”, the member added.
In view of this, a First information report has been registered by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Bajrang Dal at Tezpur Sadar Thana on Thursday evening and stated to nab the unknown miscreants at earliest possible and also expressed deep anger.
Surprisingly, a similar incident took place at the Ganesh Temple last year on August (exactly an year back) where the similar kind of damage was made to Goddess Laxmi. Later, after a preliminary investigation, it was given the angle that a group of monkeys have accomplished the incident in the holy temple.
