A rally was observed at Tezpur on occasion of World Schizophrenia Day organised by Parivartan Trust, Tezpur in collaboration with The Mind Body Soul Foundation on Friday.
World Schizophrenia Day is observed every year on May 24 to fight the stigmas associated with Mental Disorder and create awareness among people for it. Schizophrenia is a mental condition which affects normal functioning of the brain. The condition interferes with a person’s ability to feel, act and think.
Schizophrenia Awareness Week is being celebrated every year from May 20 to May 27 across the world. A number of campaigns and awareness programmes are held during this time, in order to help schizophrenia patients and increase sensitivity towards them among the rest.
It may be mentioned that, the NGO ‘The Mind Body Soul Foundation‘, is also engaged in an initiative to break stigma around Menstruation and create an environment of awareness. Jeet Nath, a young lad from Tezpur, along with Manjistha Sharma from Guwahati, created a platform for the youth change makers, through a movement called ‘THE RED MOVEMENT’. The movement calls for young volunteers, called ‘Period Ambassadors’, who shall be joining hands together to work upon sensitizing the issue.
